Canon VIXIA HG20 Review

Canon Vixia HG20 ReviewThe future of digital recording is here in the form of the VIXIA HG20 video camera that uses not only a removable SD memory card, but also an internal 60 GB flash memory device to record all of your memories in crisp clear high definition. This camera has the ability to record 22 hours of HD video using a 12x high definition video lens that is certain to deliver you the best picture possible.

Focusing is important in video, and this is just as if not more true when it comes to HD filming. When you are filming you don’t want to spend all of your time turning the focus wheel and hoping that you get the right picture, because chances are that in the time you’re doing that, the scene you were trying to film has already passed. Old cameras did have an autofocus, but if you ever used one you know that it often could not make up its mind and ended up giving the user an epileptic seizure. When you use the Canon VIXIA HG20 you know that your picture will always be in focus whenever you need it, and you won’t have to be fumbling around at that important moment.

With this camera you will be able to get the entire picture no matter what. It features a 2.7 Inch Multi-Angle Widescreen LCD. No longer do you have to worry about parts of your Christmas party or family gathering being cut off; you can just point the camera and get everything in one frame. This is a major improvement over cameras in the past which could just cover a small section. Not only can it capture a huge area, it also captures it in brilliant colors that will accurately remind you of the events that occurred the day you captured that video even many years later.

When you are recording, sometimes it can be difficult to listen to all of the sounds in the room, which is why this camera includes a headphone jack with which you’re able to closely monitor the sounds in the room while you are recording, which is a very helpful feature in any instance. It’s not something incredibly new, but it is nice to know that this feature is still there.

The camera features a 9 point Ai-AF mode in which while the subject of your recording is not centered in the frame it selects nine points upon which to focus so that your screen will always be in focus no matter what.

Buy Canon Vixia HG20As with any electronic device this one does have its disadvantages, and they are pretty severe. One problem that you will inevitably face is that the camera does record in HD, meaning that you may encounter problems when trying to transfer it to your computer. You will need a top of the line computer in order to view HD material simply because of the resolution it is filmed at which is normally 1920×1080. While this is hard on a computer, it does mean that you will be able to watch it full screen on your HD TV supposing that you have one.

To connect to your television, the device comes standard with an HDMI port. This is the new standard in HD connections and only requires one cable rather than three VGA cables all going to different ports. You can imagine how convenient this would be when you are trying to plug in your cables when the TV is smashed up against a wall.

This may be a little bit expensive, of that there is no doubt, but with all the positive parts surrounding this recording device, would you really want to trust another camera to keep tabs on your precious memories? This is definitely the best choice for those who are into recording and saving family memories and events, as well as any other things that might require the presence of a video camera.
